Background
Climate change is causing more people to be forced to leave their homes. This is leading to problems that harm human rights, make people poorer, and cause tension between communities. Many people who are forced to leave their homes live in countries that are very affected by climate change. These people often have to live in far away, crowded places with not enough basic services. This makes them more at risk from things like floods, droughts, storms, and heatwaves. It also makes it harder for them to support themselves. This can cause fights over important resources like water, fuel, and land, which can lead to less peace between the people who have been displaced and the communities that host them. Many refugees and people who have been displaced within their own country come from countries that are very affected by climate change. In these countries, bad weather and worsening climate conditions make it hard to achieve lasting peace and safe return. Without help to deal with the shocks and stresses caused by climate change, these people are at risk of being displaced again. So, it’s very important to address climate change to stop this cycle and find lasting solutions.
We would like to dedicate our CArtREfugee Postcard Design Competition 2025 to refugees internally displaced and stateless people are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. All artists and designers are invited to submit a creative design under the theme of ‘Climate Refugees’.
Winners’ designs will be exhibited and printed as postcards. All money raised will be contributed to support refugee and asylum seekers ministries organized by Youth Global Network – EYGD.
